Kid's Fishing

The Tongariro National Trout Centre is a great place for kids.
Feed the trout in our Children's Fishing Pond, check them out in our underwater viewing chamber and learn about the Taupo fishery and the Tongariro River.

On special days of the year we open our pond for childrens public 'fishouts'. These days always book out so contact us today to make your family booking

Pond Opening Hours for children's fishouts

The pond will be open between 09:30am and 2.30pm, rain or shine.

 

Fishout Bookings

 

To book for one of our Children's Fishouts, please contact us on (07) 386 8085 between 10:00am and 3:00pm (1 May to 30 November) and between 10:00am and 4:00pm (1 December to 30 April). Alternatively you can email admin@troutcentre.com

Terms, Conditions and Costings

Age Limit
Children aged 6-14 years (inclusive) can fish the pond with the help of Volunteer Anglers.

Costings
Option one:-  Kids Fishing $5. Includes 'special' child's license, certificate. We provide all equipment and one of our volunteers will help and instruct child with casting etc.

Option two:-  Kids Fish, Fillet & Smoke package $10. This includes $5 'special license' package as above plus we also fillet and smoke your catch for you.

Fly-casting Tuition: $10.00 per child, $15.00 per adult (one hours sessions starting at 11:00am and 01:00pm)
Bookings essential.

Rods and Gear
All fishing gear is provided, but you may wish to bring your own fishing gear for the fly-casting lessons only.
                                           

Food and refreshments
A 'sausage sizzle' BBQ and other food is available from $2.00 per item.


Payment options
Cash payments only. We are sorry but there are no EFTPOS or VISA facilities available at our fishing pond.
